Fort Kent, ME

Today my boyfriend and I went on a long road trip north to the beginning of Route 1 in Fort Kent, ME. We got off 95 at Houlton and followed Route 1. It was a fun trip to check out that part of Maine. 

Pluto is still at the Houlton visitor center as part of the Maine Solar System Model.

Today I ran errands and my boyfriend surprised me with a gas powered weed wacker. I got to clear a bunch of weeds around the yard. The plan is to make that into lawn instead of being overun with weeds. So excited about it. 

In the back corner of my property. There is random hump of dirt that needs to get cleared. I want to see what's on the ground before mowing. I ran out of gas or else I would have kept going. 

I was excited to find wild raspberries growing. 

My boyfriend told me I'm adorable when I came inside covered in grass. Always wear safety glasses. ;)

From my garden :)

I made zucchini brownies tonight to use the large zucchini I picked from the garden. They came out very moist. The zucchini replaces eggs in the recipe I used. 

I was excited today to get some planting done in the front yard. 

I have hostas, hydrangeas, blue star juniper, azelas, holly, and boxwood planted in front. Let's hope it grows well. My yard was bare for over a year so it's nice to see it all done. 

It rained on Sunday but we still went out for Open Farm Day. We checked out the Shaker Village. 

While south I stopped at my sister's for baby time. 

My niece is such a cutie. She slept most of my visit. 

Amazed at what I've been able to pick from my garden already. :)

We went to the Bangor State Fair on opening night. I was surprised that it wasn't that busy. I also found out I can't stomach rides very well. Oh well I still had fun with Peter and Peyton. 

It was a great week for my family. My niece was born late Tuesday night. :)

She's so adorable!! So happy for my sister and her husband. 

I took a quick trip down to Belfast and Lincolnville Beach today. 

There was an art and craft show on the waterfront in Belfast. 

I stopped at Lincolnville Beach and collected shells on the beach. 

More progress on patio area.  Just want to get it done. I paid the delivery fee to get pavers and sand delivered due to the weight. Each paver is 33lbs and I ordered thirty six  of them with ten 50lb bags of sand too. After it is all in place I'll order the crushed stone and it will be done. :)

My garden currently. I already am planning next year. Using the fish emulsion has definitely helped the growth. 

Today I went for a road trip and visited the Saint Croix Island International Historic Site that is near Calais, Maine. It was a beautiful spot to visit.

I've been making progress on the patio area. I added some bricks around where I planted the forthsyia bushes. I think I'll finish adding bricks on the other side too. 

I am happy I got new pillows from my mom that I can use outside. I also scored a $3 peony plant from Lowes today that was on clearance.
