I just realized I haven't taken any photos this past month. My flickr account still shows pictures from Thanksgiving which irks me. Normally around this time of year I would have gone for a walk in the city forest and documented what I saw. What have I been doing with my free time? Hmmm....I think my days off I have been running around trying to get all my Christmas shopping done and haven't taken any time to relax and enjoy the sunlight. I am not a fan of the cold or the lack of sunlight. I do love the tradition of decorating trees and showing appreciation to those you care about. I gave a gift recently to a couple I know and was so happy with their reaction to the gift. We don't swap presents, but I wanted to do something thoughtful for them. After being asked what I want for Christmas I have been realizing I am not a  very materialistic person because I have a very hard time making up a list of things I want. What I really want doesn't come with a price tag although hopefully with time I may get it. You should see how happy I get when I check the mail and get a Christmas card. :) Looking foward to Christmas this year. One more day of work on Monday and then I will be on vacation for six whole days!

Too much candy today. I had been limiting my intake with just from the Advent Calendar, but had a lot of sugar today including coffee from the break room. Corey threw this piece of candy on my desk. I did have a clementine too so I guess it sorta balances out. They have been giving us candy and fruit and soda at work...sort of a holiday celebration thing where the high up people serve you drinks from a cart. We had a HTC presentation earlier about the HTC Imagio which is an alright phone.

OMG....the wii fit finally said my BMI is normal...
I hadn't checked my weight in a month...
I think its from the lack of appetite
when I was sick all of November.
15 more pounds to go to get to what is
healthy for my height :)

Trying a tall Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha Latte.
Just got a haircut, chopped two inches off.
Felt quite theraputic. :)

living room is a mess....

Today just isn't my day. Trying so hard to be optimistic and try to shake this grumpy mood. I've had three escalated calls already this morning at work and its all for stupid issues that are not easy fixes. I don't know why I am feeling so blah. Maybe when I get home and wrap some more presents and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa that will cheer me up. Having oatmeal for lunch with granola and a cut up pear and almond butter...mmm..helps a little.

I ended up in the wrong lane and had to turn onto this street in Brewer. I believe this is the house Corey had told me about. Wow, that is a lot of lights! :)
Had a great time tonight at Matthew's Christmas Party :) Got to hang out with people I normally don't get to see often and meet some new people. Fun times and yummy food. :)

I made banana bread in a crockpot...yeah I'm a late night baker just like my mum ;)
One of my favorite Doctor Who scenes from the episode "Doomsday" some reason it makes me giggle hearing the Cybermen and Daleks argue.

Learn to love less

saw this on mnmlist.com
"The secret of happiness, you see, is not found in seeking more, but in developing the capacity to enjoy less." - Socrates
In that one little line, Socrates summed up one of the major problems with our modern society, and offered a simple solution.
Pretty brilliant, I'd say.
In fact, he negated the need for me to write more, but stubborn as I am, I will proceed. I'd like to talk about this capacity to enjoy less.
Is it difficult to enjoy less? No, not really, but it takes a change in mindset, which as with many such changes takes time and adaptation.
If you enjoy chocolate ice cream, as I do, when confronted with a tub of it would you also enjoy eating as much of the tub as possible? I know that's what many of us do when faced with delicious food.
But what if you learned to enjoy just a few bites of the ice cream? And with each bite, savor the flavor, the coldness, the creaminess, the chocolatiness. (Yes, that's a word, spell-checker - I made it up.)
If you love clothes, instead of buying more and more each weekend, can you learn to cull your wardrobe into a few quality, beautiful pieces that you can wear often, and enjoy more?
The same applies with anything we love ... including online reading and communicating (email, Twitter, Facebook, forums). We often seem obsessed with more of it. But instead, consider reading just the quality stuff, and if a blog or Twitter feed doesn't deliver quality consistently, consider dropping it.
Learn to love less television, movies, chatter, spending, shopping, eating out, junk food, technology, consumption, productivity. You get the idea.
When you focus on enjoying less, you focus on full enjoyment. You learn to be content with little, and when you do that, a life of happiness is at your disposal. The only limit to your happiness, then, is how much you can learn to enjoy less.
